histrionic shouting between red team and blue team and you just came here to

fix stuff and eat bagels but everybody else wants to kill each other with knives, then this is the

podcast for you and this episode in particular is going to be elucidating because I am at last,

at last, going to jump into the culture war.

I've been holding back on it, but I feel it really is time for me to sally forth into this dumpster fire of discourse to bring

sanity and measured reason back to the realm. Now I want to give a warning because we're talking about culture

worse stuff. I'm going to bring up some things in the past that have been

censored which means there's going to be swear words and I'm also kind of

you have been forewarned. There is a culture war. On one side of the

culture war is openness, rational inquiry, good faith debate, free exchange of

ideas, and pluralism. And on the other side looms authoritarianism, group

think and conformity and I'm very much on team pluralism and I am very much opposed to Maoism.

That said, the battle I am going to describe today is not,

I repeat it is not, a fight between the forces of conservatism and progressivism.

It never has been.

The flashpoint in the culture war isn't about whether you're liberal or conservative in regards to social issues.

It's about if you're an authoritarian about whether you're liberal or conservative in regards to

social issues.

It's not about what you think or your values. It's about the level
