You must amend your life.

Nobody wants to think about this.

We love our kids too much. We love our lives too much.

We have too much to do. But we have to stop. We have to stop and think about this unpleasant fact.

We will not be here forever. Nobody will be. The great Robert Southwell poem is a haunting reminder to all parents.

My ancestors are turned to clay, he says, and many of my mates are gone. My younger's daily drop

away. And can I think to escape alone? No, no, I know that I must die. And yet my life amend,

not I.

Do you parent according to this idea of Memento Mori or are you like Southwell, in denial,

refusing to amend your life in light the only fact that matters?

Forget what you're bothered about at work. Be with your kids. Forget what you and your spouse are fighting about. Be with your family. Forget what is happening on the news. Be with your

kids. Forget what you are riding or nagging your kids about. Be with them now. Forget all the

things you'd like to go do someday. Do them with your kids now. Life is short.

Your family is what matters. Your kids are what matters. Live accordingly.

I think one of my favorite things about being a parent is sort of made me a kid again in a weird

way. So every night my wife and I have a bowl of Magic Spoon cereal. It's the dessert we have.

We try to generally eat healthy, but you know, you have these cravings, having all the kid's stuff

around the house. What I love about Magic Spoon is there's no gluten, basically no carbs, no sugar.
