On a warm evening in June 2018 in Boulder, Colorado, a trailer park is disturbed by the sounds of sirens coming from police fans, ambulances and other emergency vehicles.

Inside a laundry room at this trailer park, a woman lies on the floor dying. At first,

no one knows what's happened, a tragic accident, maybe a medical emergency, but soon, police

find a hidden CCTV camera inside a packet of chocolates and the videotape from that camera

shows the full extent of what happened.

For today's case, we're in Boulder, Colorado in 2018. Deborah DePinto worked as a chef at the

University of Colorado. She very clearly loved what she did and all of her colleagues spoke about

just how devoted she was to the job. She was the hardest working person they'd ever met.

She was always trying to get better and do better. And in her

10 years there, she strived every day to work the best she could. Back in 1998, she'd met this man

called Scott and they'd started dating and soon after that, they had their first child together a little girl called

Sadie. Two years later they have another child this time a little boy who they called Michael

and things continue on for the couple they eventually end up moving into this trailer park

and it's supposed to be temporary but at the time of our case they've been there several years

by that point and as the children got older by this point there 11 and 13 things aren't going

great in the household with the family especially debor and scott they're just they're just

not seeing eye to eye anymore and deb and Deborah doesn't want to be in this

relationship anymore. And so she tells Scott, look, we need to go our separate ways. We need to have

our own space. We need to get our kids out of this, out of what's happening. And so it doesn't

really seem like Scott wanted the relationship to end, but I mean, what could he do? Deborah said
