I give the example in my devotions about getting caught in a rainstorm one day when I was in college walking to class, ended up utterly soaked by the time I got there.

And then I never left my dorm again without an umbrella because, well, I'm not going to let that happen.

And, you know, it's not quite so easy when we're talking about the armor

of God. There's not, you know, an umbrella that you stick in your backpack. But we can think through

disciplining ourselves ahead of time to, you know, am I spending the time in the word? Am I spending

time in prayer? Do I have a theology of suffering? It may be, I need a theology of suffering and

let me go do some deep study. Or it may just be, let me develop a habit of praying before I walk into particular situations, knowing that I'm probably going to end up being tempted and I need the Lord to help me out there.

this famous passage in Ephesians that we're all probably pretty familiar with. But I want to,

before we kind of dive into that and talk about the armor, you open your book with a really

simple message for Christians, and I would boil it down to you can't do it, right? Like,

you can't actually do life the way that you want to, the way that God wants you,

the way that we all desire.

And that's actually good news for us that we can't do it.
