Summary

Children are a blessing. God wants us to enjoy them. Homeschooling is a gift. I believe He wants us to enjoy that as well. Does it take some discipline and fortitude to parent well and to homeschool? Absolutely. However, I don't believe for one minute that God ever meant it to be what many of us are trying to make it. In His goodness, God often allows it to be frustrating and overwhelming because He really does have something better for us. Today I'm sharing my 24 years of experience as a homeschooling mom. I believe that children are a blessing. I was also determined to keep our kids home, but that meant I had to let God direct us and not chain myself to something that wasn't a good fit for us or I would have given up a long time ago. I am here to tell you that if God leads you to homeschool, He WILL make a way for it to work for your family. I am sharing three things that will help make homeschooling doable. It's what worked for our family. I'm hoping that these are ideas you can work with, use as inspiration to find your own way or, at the very least, be encouraged! 0:18.2	that you can homeschool and actually keep your sanity. So this is, I'm doing this on
0:24.0	Facebook live, but I'm also recording it for my podcast listeners so I can post it there as well.
0:30.4	Some of you might not know me, and so I just want to give a quick introduction. I'm the wife to
0:36.2	Daryl. We've been married for 30 years.
0:39.0	We have eight kids and their ages are 15 to 29, five boys and three girls,
0:45.6	whom we've homeschooled from the beginning. We're about to graduate our seventh in June.
0:51.4	So the finish line is in sight. And I'm also the author of the Unhurried
0:57.0	homeschooler. All right, you guys. I am excited about sharing today because, you know, when you're
1:04.2	this far down the road, there's some perspective that comes with this. And so I'm hoping to share
1:10.5	some of that with you
1:11.5	to lift your burdens and to help you have maybe the bigger picture in mind as
1:18.5	your homeschooling your kids so you can truly enjoy them you guys that's what this is
1:23.4	all about we really want to enjoy our kids yes we want to prepare them for life, but we
1:28.3	also want to enjoy them. These should be some of the best years of our lives. So today
1:34.3	I'm going to be sharing with you from my own personal experience. I am not saying that everyone
1:40.3	has to homeschool this way, but I will tell you that it allowed our family, the kind of family
1:47.5	life that we so wanted. And it gave our kids a solid foundation. And I'm going to be able to
1:54.0	kind of explain why as we go along here. Our kids are healthy, contributing members of society, and we have a good
2:03.2	relationship with every single one of them. And to me, that is a win right there. When I started
2:11.6	out homeschooling, I just felt very strongly that kids should not be pushed into bookwork at too early of an age. I just
2:19.9	felt like it was such a tender time for them and such a time when they should just be enjoying
