Summary

Our perspective on motherhood deeply affects how we approach it and ultimately how we walk the journey over the long haul. It also deeply affects how our children view themselves. If we mother them as though they are a blessing (like God says they are), they grow up feeling valued and become confident in who they are. It's essential that we understand the mission God has given us in motherhood and place the value on it that it deserves. We have the opportunity of a lifetime to invest wisely and intentionally. Today Marisa, from Called to Mothering, is sharing her heart in this very encouraging conversation that will inspire and motivate you to enjoy motherhood and enjoy your kids! Hey, everyone, welcome to this week's podcast. I'm Durenda Wilson. I am a wife to one, mom to eight, and Nana to six. I'm excited to have you here today. I have a very special guest and we're

0:22.4

going to be talking about motherhood and that calling to motherhood. But before I introduce her,

0:28.3

I want to remind you that if you haven't checked out my simple, mercifully short book on homeschooling,

0:34.1

the unhurried homeschooler, I would encourage you to go and check it out.

0:39.2

It's a very short read and it's on Amazon. I also have a 31-day devotional that's written

0:44.8

specifically for homeschool moms. And that is also on Amazon. It is called Unhurried Grace for a Mom's Heart.

0:53.8

Well, the homeschool conference season is upon us for

0:56.7

2020 and I'm going to be in several locations. I will leave a link in the podcast notes,

1:03.1

sharing where I'm going to be. So I'm excited today because we're going to be talking about

1:08.5

motherhood. And my personal background is that as a

1:12.0

child, I knew that motherhood was what, that was my calling. That was going to be my career. I was

1:20.1

going to make the investment of a lifetime into my family and into my kids. So I am excited. I was excited when I first ran across a post that was

1:31.8

shared. And my, she's now my friend, Marissa Boonstra, who has called to mothering.com,

1:40.6

or called to motherhood.com. She, there was, it was a post that she had written and it had to do

1:48.2

with just sort of this kind of victim mentality, this sort of wo is me sentiment that undermines

1:55.4

the joy of motherhood. And she was saying it's kind of peppered throughout our chats during

2:00.8

play dates and fellowship times. And she was just it's kind of peppered throughout our chats during play dates and fellowship

2:02.4

times. And she was just saying how Satan just loves that. And I just, that got my attention and I read

2:08.2

through the rest of the post. It was really short. I encourage you to go read it if you, if you can.

2:13.2

But it was really centered around the fact that motherhood is a target for the enemy.

2:18.9

The enemy would love nothing more than to cause us to be discouraged and ineffective.

2:25.4

And he can use that sort of, I call it mommy martyrdom because I've been so guilty of this myself.
