I want to share with you today a quote my friend from the philosopher Marcus Aurelius and this may be my favorite quote from him because at some level in my core even when I was a child I knew that this was true.

This is from his book Meditations.

If you find something very difficult to achieve yourself, don't imagine it impossible.

For anything possible and proper for another person can be achieved as easily by you.

As I was growing up, living in different domestic violence shelters, having no money, living on hand meat

outclothes, relying on food donations, toy donations, all the things that you know

very low- income families receive.

Even as a kid, even knowing that that was my reality at the time,

I knew I was not going to stay there. How did I know this? I didn't have the

language, I didn't have the role models present in my life.

But even as I read stories in books, even as I watched television shows,

and I saw women on TV with their pencil skirts living in big cities

and they had these high-powered jobs. I thought, ah, that's me.

Why? Because we don't overcomplicate. We don't have to overthink. I thought if there are women in big cities

I didn't even know New York that language or that place at the time, but there are women in New York

who wear skirts that are tight when they walk and they wear high heels and they have big jobs and people listen to them and they're powerful and they're really cool.
