Now we are in 1st Peter, chapter 3,

and Peter has just told us that there is a blessing that comes

when we are mistreated.

When evil conduct is done toward us, or reviling is the word he uses.

So that's like someone saying evil about us or slandering us,

those kinds of things. And he's saying when we are

mistreated that way and instead of returning the favor, so to speak, and treating

that person the same way, we bless them instead, there is a great blessing that

comes back to us. And here's what he says, he says, whoever desires to love life and see good days let him keep his tongue

from evil and his lips from speaking deceit let him turn away from evil and do

good let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and

his ears are open to their prayers. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.
