And So, The segue question having all that said because I don't want to be blubbering this whole time

0:36.6

is this particular issue is often framed as being along racial lines, right?

0:45.0

Which really gets ridiculous.

0:46.6

People get caught up on identity politics, right?

0:48.9

People claim they're in favor of supporting a figure like Onate

0:52.3

because of quote unquote Spanish heritage and

0:54.5

it's framed as an issue between like natives and Hispanics but we know that that's

0:58.9

not what it's about at all. This is about settler colonialism and so I see that parallel when we're thinking

Like I feel like these kinds of claims are often put forth to kind of distract from the focal point at hand.

1:58.7

It's ridiculous and it sounds ridiculous to the average listener that there is like a dispute about some Spanish guy or that there is somebody who has grievances with Jews being in Palestine.

2:09.0

But the reality of the matter is it's about the land. It's about colonizers who have come over from foreign parts of the world who have taken over our lands, who have desecrated our lands.

2:22.0

But these kinds of distractions like painting

2:24.8

it as a civil dispute or as a religious conflict and even more recently in Palestine as a real estate dispute

2:31.4

served to kind of you know radicule and like you said undermine our struggles for liberation
