Hello, I'm Susan Hume and this is the Yesterday in Parliament podcast.

On Wednesday the 20th of May, it was the first Prime Minister's question time

since the political ructions over the election results and the Labour leadership.

Often, the harder the times, the louder they cheer.

Labour MPs drowned out a minister as Sir Kier Starrmer came into the chamber.

Despite the bad election results, despite the denunciations and the Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham

eyeing up his job, the Prime Minister was all smiles and chat as he took

his seat for question time. After all, not everything is going wrong. His team, Arsenal,

are champions of the Premier League. And he opened with a mischievous comment about a man

famous in Manchester. It would be remiss of me not to comment on one of Manchester's great heroes

moving on after almost a decade.

So let me congratulate

Pec Guadiola

on all his success

at Manchester City.

Ah, you see what he did there,

though it wasn't greeted

with exactly gales of laughter by Labour MPs,

many of whom may be quite keen on Andy Burnham in the top job.

But just to roll his own pitch even more thoroughly,

the Prime Minister went on to announce a 12-month road tax holiday for Holliers
