Wednesday the 13th of May was a big day in Westminster

as the King came to Parliament to set out the government's plans for new laws.

As is traditional, with the state opening of Parliament, there was a bit of this.

And a bit of this.

And a bit of this.

But it didn't take long for the first hint that all was not quite normal in the state of

Westminster.

Not no, Andy!

One rogue MP shouting out that now was not the moment for the greater Manchester

Mayor and possible Labour leadership contender Andy Burnham to make his return to the Commons.

Back down the corridor, the King read out the speech prepared for him by ministers,

outlining the more than 35 bills the government wants to turn into law in the next year or so.

But the question consuming

Westminster was who would be in charge of that government. At the start of the debate on the

plans, the Conservative leader turned straight to the uncertainty swirling around Sequea Stama.

This King's speech is taking place against the most extraordinary backdrop.

We knew the carriages were booked, the horses were ready, the king was coming, but would we have a

Prime Minister?
