On Wednesday the 9th of July, the Prime Minister was probed about his tax plans.

If you've ever had to do an IQ test or aptitude test, that kind of thing,

you'll know they often start you off with a question that's ridiculously easy.

In their manifesto last year, Labor promised not to increase income tax,

not to increase national insurance, and not to increase VAT.

Does the Prime Minister still stand by his promises?

Yes.

Ah, simple, Labour MPs cheered as the Prime Minister aced the first one.

But like those darn tests, Kemi Badernaut quickly moved on to something potentially trickier.

We saw at the budget more promises.

The Chancellor promised that she would lift the freeze on income tax and national

insurance thresholds because, in her words, they hurt working people. Is that still government

policy? If income tax thresholds stay the same, people are drawn into paying a higher rate of

tax as their salaries rise with inflation. It took secure Stamar a split second longer to answer this time

Mr Speaker, no Prime Minister or Chancellor is going to write a budget in a bus.

We are absolutely fixed on our fixed school rules.

We remain committed to it.
