On Wednesday the 2nd of July, the Conservative leader goaded the Prime Minister over his benefits bill U-turn

and questioned how long a visibly upset Rachel Reeves would stay in her job.

When a prime minister has had a tough week,

their backbenchers are often encouraged to give them an extra big cheer at the start of PMQs.

So when Kirstam arrived in the Commons, Labour MPs gave it some wellie,

and Tory MPs yelled right back until the Speaker stepped in.

Okay, there seems to a bit of a challenge on who can cheer the most. I've never known one Prime

Minister and there's much cheering. Come on, Parliament. I think they were cheering more, Mr Speaker.

Quite right, too. That ear-splitting show of loyalty came less than 24 hours after the government had been forced to make another sweeping U-turn to its welfare bill,

putting off changes to the eligibility criteria for the disability benefit PIP until after a government review.

Economists reckon that climb down wiped out the last of the £5 billion of savings the government had hoped to make.

The Conservative leader Kemi Badernock said the benefits bill would now go up, not down,

and she accused Kirstama of not being able to control his MPs.

He said that he would take the difficult decisions,

but isn't the reality that he is too weak to get anything done?

But the Prime Minister insisted it was the Tory's mess that he was clearing up.

I'll tell them what they did to the welfare system.

They broke it.

And it's the same as the NHS. What did they do? They broke it. The broke it. And it's the same as the NHS.
