hypothesis which I've been thinking about off and on for at least 20 years.

Probably I began thinking about it.

This is before the Matrix.

I was reading a book called The Mind's Eye. It was a collection of essays by philosophers, Daniel the Net, and Doug Hofstadter and

the nature of consciousness and human experience is always interested in me and as well as perceptual reality because most of us don't know we are

time travelers. What we are perceiving has to be interpreted by our brain through our expectations

about the world and then we take action based on those interpretations.

So an easy way to illustrate this is an optical illusion. An optical illusion shouldn't exist, right? You look at it?

You say, well that can't be real, but they use shadows and angles and other devices to trick your brain.

Your retinoces it and your brain interprets it in a different way.

And I've always just thought, well, what if our brains are wired to interpret things in a way that isn't real?

And that's the hard, or that's what I consider actually the soft simulation.

So the way I look at a simulation theory and the simulation hypothesis as it's known is there's a hard and a soft simulation

The hard one would be that we live in a computer game. We live in a form of VR and everything we see is just

ones and zeros and we're actually maybe maybe we're a replacement skin I don't

know if you've watched altered carbon maybe were a skin being occupied by

someone else but those are complicated questions because a lot of what has been

shown in consciousness research and conscience theory is that there is no mind-bodied

economy. The idea that you could just leave your brain jump into another body and be the same

person isn't true. There's biofeedback. There's all this
