| 0:00.0 | Welcome to a breakpoint, a daily look, and an ever-changing culture through the lens of |
| 0:04.4 | unchanging truth. For the Colson Center, I'm John Stone Street. Though all elections have |
| 0:10.6 | consequences, some more than others, they are still moments in time, and as such, they reflect more |
| 0:16.4 | than they determine. Their outcomes matter at times greatly. Still, those outcomes result from larger |
| 0:22.9 | trajectories. In other words, elections tend to be downstream from the rest of culture. |
| 0:28.1 | Now, the fact that this election will be so immediately consequential for so much and for so many, |
| 0:34.5 | for pre-born humans and the future of pro-life activism, for children and their |

| 1:15.6 | It's quite another for a people to not only lack a shared vision for the future, but also |
| 1:20.0 | shared definitions of essential concepts such as freedom and virtue and human dignity, family, |
| 1:26.7 | citizenship, marriage. In our country, the factions |
| 1:30.3 | are not only misaligned, they're antagonistic to one another. Christians are in a unique place |
| 1:35.9 | to offer a way forward. However, this will not happen if we fall captive to what Jacques |
| 1:41.1 | Lul called the political illusion. That's the idea that all problems are at root |
| 1:45.7 | political problems and therefore must have political solutions. Politics in our day has overtaken |
| 1:52.2 | far too much of our lives. Everything's been made political. Elections ought not be this |
