we got we're gonna discuss some very significant anniversaries that are happening this year very very

significant and we're gonna flip through the January 2001 issue of game pro we don't look at too

many issues of game pro here but I'm very excited it's a good one scary Larry but first um

okay well I thought maybe we should start with show and tell but we'll save that for a little bit later

the show let's start with do call it a comeback man just over a year into the new generation of

consoles with the Xbox series X and S it seems like Xbox has completely dug itself out of the whole

that it put itself in at the launch of the Xbox one last generation on the New York Times podcast

this week Phil Spencer says at this point we've sold more of this generation of Xboxes the

series X and S then we had any a previous version of Xboxes so that's the still Xbox console of

all time and analyst Daniel Amad says this would put Xbox series X and S over 12 million

shipped according to our estimates in November Sony revealed the PlayStation 5 had sold 13.4 million

units so these consoles are very very close in in their sales I think the Xbox is only a couple

million units behind the PS5 I am a little bit shocked if these numbers are accurate that that

that they Microsoft was able to catch up so quickly Tina what do you think?

I mean first off it's incredible that they're making these kind of numbers in a you know generation

of consoles with ship shortages and people still excitedly trying to buy them so imagine if we

didn't have those kinds of shortages what those numbers would be so I'll be really curious to see

over the next few years hopefully if slash when things normalize what those look like

but yeah I mean you know on the topic of them versus PlayStation numbers yeah like PlayStation

...
