We have a great show for this week. We're gonna take a look at the best selling games of last year 2021. We'll be talking about this very show the future of it. Should we ever see the other side of this pandemic. But first.

Man, I don't even know where to begin. We're still in January and we, you know, this week we got what is probably gonna end up being the biggest news of the year.

I'm sure everyone out there is already aware, but just in case you have not heard Microsoft plans to acquire Activision Blizzard for nearly $70 billion by far.

I far the largest. Yeah, Justin's just hearing about this in real time. I far the biggest. I need to read IG in real fast.

I think you're the any other video game acquisition in history. I think it's bigger than the the next 15 largest video game company acquisitions combined.

It's 10 times as much as Microsoft paid for Bethesda. What just a little bit over a year ago. So man, there's a lot to pack here. What was that Tina?

The billions territory so deep in that we're rounding up by a billion. And it means nothing relative to the 70. Well, it's like 68.7 or something.

Yes, I guess billions. But yeah, why not just make it 70 billion at that point. We did a great by the numbers article, which compares this to lots of different acquisitions.

I think we get I may be speaking for myself here, but I am a little bit numb to acquisition numbers because there's tech acquisitions, which are like half a trillion dollars and stuff like that.

Like hundreds of billions of dollars for like something that doesn't even, you know, it's not to make a profit, which is like crazy.

That's like a Silicon Valley thing that keeps happening. However, in entertainment, when we broke it down, it is it is remarkable to see what Nintendo are.

What does he bought Marvel for? You know, it's like four million or something. It's like what does he pay four billion for billion Star Wars, right?

Yeah, yeah, exactly like stuff like that. And think what they did with that. You know, I think what they will do with it. And you just think of like how valuable Activision Blizzard seemed to Microsoft to pay this much.

I just want everyone everyone in skim nation to know that I missed this, but we can all sort of share it together by just got text from my wife upstairs that our daughter just rolled over.

First time I heard them all screaming. Everyone's happy.

Happy screen. I hope they took the happy life screaming in a good way. You know, the good kind of screaming. Yeah, I know I like that. It's a sell for Tori screen.

So what this means is that now, you know, once the acquisition is completed, which is going to be a thing over eight like a year and a half from now, Microsoft is going to outright own the publisher and developers of franchises like Call of Duty,

or the work craft, Yablo, Overwatch, Starcraft, and Candy Crush Tony Hawk. My favorite crash crash Bandicoot. Yeah, now now crash Bandicoot is going to be owned by Microsoft.

We got the last laugh there. Yeah, they regret. They regret those aggressive 90s commercials.

Bring it back. Although I guess those were all against Nintendo, weren't they? Yeah. Yeah. Let's start with an email from Matt Jones, Overlord of the Game Scoop Superfans. He writes in to say, I'll keep it short for what I expect to be an action packed scoop discussion.
