I've been, I started reaching out to a lot of past guests of mine that I remember fondly having good conversations

with that I thought might have some relevant stuff to say about the kind of new perspective and what's going on in the world today.

And joining me is Return guest Colin Holbrooke.

Colin, can you introduce yourself to people for us?

Hi everybody, I'm Colin Holbrooke.

I'm a researcher in the Cognitive Science Department

at UC Merced,

and most of my research has to do with either

the detection or assessment of threats

or decision-making under context of threat about things such as the propriety of the use of force,

confidence in who will win in a conflict, and sometimes moral judgments around those things and as one might imagine this overall topic lends itself towards a particular way of thinking about group prejudice and some differences related to political orientation.

Yeah, that's amazing.

So I'm very much interested in in group preferences and anyone who isn't into group preferences I'm against them.

Yeah, they're the others.

There are the others. So can you can you explain some of that maybe some of your

past work and interest in in that? Well it's funny as an academic especially

when you're on the job market one of the most essential skills is the ability to make your work seem cogent and coherent.

So I'm doing that in real time, but I've got some practice doing it.
