When Ellen was released from Wuthering Heights, she tried to take Kathy with her who had been

locked in Linton's chambers.

But the key was hidden and Linton would not tell her where.

She ran back to the Grange in time to see her master still alive and promised she would

get Cathy home to him soon. He instructed her to call for the lawyer, to ensure his

will would be changed to put Kathy's money into a trust. Ellen sent one messenger to Gimerton

for the solicitor and some men to the heights to rescue Kathy.
