Welcome back to the home front. I am your host, Reid Galen. Today, I am joined by the one and only

0:06.9

Alexis Coe, presidential historian extraordinaire, columnist, I believe now for the New York Times. Is that right?

0:13.6

Yes, it is. And author of You Never Forget Your First, an absolutely brilliant biography of

0:19.9

George Washington, which you absolutely

0:22.5

should go out and get, and working on a book about the young John F. Kennedy prior to his presidency.

0:29.4

0:31.0

Thank you. Thank you for having me back.

0:33.8

1:00.7

And that has brought home to its worst, I think, possible conclusion here this week in not one but two places in evergreen Colorado where a young man

1:13.4

was apparently radicalized online shot two of his classmates and then took his own life and

1:19.8

then here in Utah where I am down in Orum which is about I don't know an hour and change

1:24.8

southwest of where I am at Utah Valley University.

1:29.9

Charlie Kirk was shot and killed by a sniper's bullet. That young man has subsequently been

1:35.9

apprehended, sounds like by his father, of all people, who was, I think, either current or

1:41.9

former law enforcement. But let's start at the beginning.

1:46.0

So tell us what you were thinking about when you started writing about what's going on.
