hey hey how are you read pleasure to be here well thanks thanks for coming so i've been

reading your stuff for a little while and

there were a couple of things that i wanted to discuss with you uh the first is um you did a

an interview with noa smith a few weeks ago and i thought it was really interesting because i thought

it was a uh a very indicative conversation about sort of where people are you you know, Noah's an, he's an economist.

He's not a political guy necessarily, but he spends a lot of time in the political realm.

And there was one thing in particular that I thought was interesting on his, on his perspective, which was, well, you know, life is better than it was in the 50s. Life is

better than it was in the 70s. Houses are bigger now, this and that. And like from an economist

perspective, he started with unequivocally. Right. Right. That was way he started. He said like

undeniably, undebatably, unequivocally, that's a fact. And let's just even accept that that is true.

Okay.

The problem is, is that, like, you and I weren't around in the 50s, right?

Most of the country wasn't around in the 50s.

Yeah, we live in bigger houses now with it.

But, again, this is where, like, history and the history of economics is fine, but it doesn't speak to like how people are actually living.

So give us a sense of how you pushed back.

If you did push back on that, how you responded to that.

Well, I mean, I actually don't believe the premise for one thing.

Except, I mean, houses are bigger on average, right?

But they cost more of our lives.
