I want to tell you a little story about,

I talk to you a great deal about how I think the dividing and the jumping off point and alcoholics phenomenon is eighth and nine step.

I think the most, I don't think any of the steps are unimportant,

but I think the freedom steps are steps eight to nine.

And the reason I know that is when Bill Wilson carried a message to Dr. Bob in Akron, Ohio,

and they got sober and started running around taking care of these people, Bill emphasized

to Dr. Bob the great necessity of making amends. And Dr. Bob, the great necessity of making amends.

And Dr. Bob's response to that was, I live in this town, practically all my life.

I'm a physician here.

I'm a businessman here.

I am not going to go out and air my dirty laundry around all these people who know me and Bill like any good

sponsor would do just shruggy shoulders and said okay shortly thereafter Dr. Bob

went to a medical convention in Atlantic City and when he got back he fell off

to step off the train dr. dr. had been drunker than a hudel. He'd been drunk for three or four days.

And Bill, as he's wanted to do, picked him up and took him.

And the next day, Dr. Bob was going to have to perform an operation.

He was a proctologist, so you know how delicate that was.

And he was shaking like that.
