diabetes in MetTac Europe for quite some years now. And you've been also at MetTech Europe for 14 years.

So I'm really glad that you're joining us today to dive into this incredibly interesting topic

But before we go any deeper, if you could give us a snapshot of the

diabetes situation in Europe today, what would it be? Yeah, thank you, Caroline, and I'm

absolutely happy to talk about diabetes. I have the chance to work on diabetes in Medtech Europe

since seven years now, and it has been very interesting and great work which has been done with the group and our stakeholders.

So as a matter of fact, diabetes is often called a silent pandemic.

It's one of the major health challenges of our times.

And 61 million people today in Europe are already living with diabetes.

That's, if you think about it, this population of Italy.

So, and the numbers are rising.

So it's not that this is a stable number.

Diabetes is a lifelong and chronic condition, and actually, if not well

managed, it has serious health conditions which really go into heart disease, blindness,

even amputation of extremities, legs normally, and kidney failure. And these are big consequences for the person living with diabetes

and also for the health system and societies because people with diabetes when they have
