climate change. And joining us, I'm going to do a few introductions. Then we're going to discuss

a few relevant topics. I'm Mike Murphy, co-director of the Center for the Political Future here

at USC. And I am delighted and intimidated by the panel. These are the experts the experts call. So we're really

lucky to have a great panel here. Now I'm going to start with somebody I'm going to call the

Mysterian here because he hasn't quite joined, but Congressman Garrett Graves of Louisiana's 6th

district. Oh, here he is. Hi, Garrett. Perfect timing, man. He's a Republican member of Congress.

He's a ranking member for the new select committee on the

climate crisis, and he serves on the House Natural Resources Committee. And even more impressive

than that, before being elected to Congress, I believe in 2016, am I right about that, Congressman?

Maybe 14. Recently, few terms. He was a key staff member on many of the committees that really make the policy on both the Republican side.

I think he advised some Dems too over on the Senate. So somebody really knows how this thing works.

We also have Catherine Hayho, who is another accomplished, incredible atmospheric scientist, an expert on climate change,

why it matters to us here and now, quite famous as a hugely effective communicator on climate

change. She is the political science endowed professor in public policy and public law at Texas

Tech and co-directs their climate center. You also might recognize her because she hosts the PBS Digital Series Global Weirding.

And she has been named one of Time Magazine's 100, most influential people and a United Nations champion of the environment.
