My guest today was born in Gateshead in the North East. She got into politics at an early age.

Her mother was a Labour member and she herself joined the party aged 15. After attending a comprehensive

school, she went on to study at Oxford, becoming co-chair of the Labour Club during her studies.

After graduating, she managed a refuge in Sunderland for women and children fleeing domestic abuse

before entering the Commons in 2010. She hasn't always backed the winner when it comes to

the Labour Party, supporting David Miller Ban to replace Gordon Brown, a vet Cooper for Labour leader

in 2015, and a year later, after becoming one of 172 Labour MPs to express no confidence in Jeremy Corbyn

voting for Owen Smith. Corbyn's office placed her in the call group negative group in its rankings of Labour MPs.

She back Kirstama as leader and became the shadow chief secretary to the Treasury last year.
