He was on his second marriage to Kathleen Hunt-Atwater Peterson, a very brilliant woman, the first woman who was accepted into the Duke School of Engineering. |
| 0:42.2 | She was an executive at Nortel, according to her friends and family. She was an incredible hostess, cook, and all around an incredible person. |
| 0:55.6 | Now, Michael Peterson had run for mayor at the end of the 1990s and he had lost. |
| 1:02.9 | And he had lost because he had lied about the medals he received in the Vietnam War. |
| 1:13.2 | And this was quite a devastating loss to him. |

| 1:22.1 | He had written for the local paper, |

| 1:35.3 | Now, on December 9th, 2001, Michael Peterson calls 911 and reports that his wife Kathleen has fallen down the stairs. |
