I thought I'd tell you a little bit about the Synod. I've been on a bit of a roller coaster the last about six weeks or seven weeks.

I met with the priests of my diocese at Lake Okabojia, Iowa. Anyone know where that is. It's a resort, you know? It's a nice little town and the

priests of my diocese go there yearly for a retreat. So I gave a series of talks in Okaboj and then I went directly from Okaboji to

Roma boji. The Pope had called all the Synod members over for a retreat.

So we went to a place called Sacrofano, which is just north of Rome,

a retreat center, and we spent three or four days there,

listening to spiritual talks and attending the liturgy,

and in many ways the Synod began on the retreat because during the afternoons we gathered into

these small groups and began the process of you know

talking through some issues. The Senate began formally I think on October

the 4th, lasted until October 29th. So it was a bit of a slog I must say the
