well-known Hollywood actors Ethan and Maya Hawk. Ethan has starred in many excellent movies

over the years, while Maya is probably best known for her roles in the BBC adaptation

of Little Women and the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. But more recently, Ethan and

Maya, father and daughter, joined forces to produce a new film titled Wild Cat, which

is a biopic about the Catholic writer Flannery O'Connor, who is of course near and dear

to our hearts at Word on Fire. Ethan wrote and directed the film while Maya stars as Flannery

herself. Bishop Baron and the Hawks enjoy a delightful and wide-ranging conversation

about the film, about Flannery O'Connor's stories, and so much more, we think you'll

It's my privilege to be here with Ethan Hawk and with Maya Hawk, who have just finished

principal photography on a rather extraordinary project. It's a film called Wild Cat based

on the life and the work of Flannery O'Connor. As anyone that's following me knows, I'm

kind of obsessed with Flannery O'Connor. I think she's the finest, you know, Catholic

fiction writer of the last century. So I was thrilled to read this script and thrilled

to have a two of you on here today to talk about her and about her work and about faith

and spirituality and all sorts of things. So thank you for being here.
