Summary

John Krasinski's new film, A Quiet Place, which he both directs and stars in, may at first seem like a typical thriller, with lurking monsters threatening to kill everyone in their path. But it's actually a surprisingly religious movie, as Bishop Barron explains, witnessing to the monastic response to evil, the dignity of life, and the sacrificial death of Christ on the Cross. A listener asks about the next steps for someone who has said "yes" to Jesus and the Church.

*SPOILER ALERT!* This episode contains spoilers so only listen after you've seen the film, or if you don't plan to see it.

a little bit of a relief because you had, I think, one of the most grueling months of your entire

episcopacy in terms of travel and events and things here and there. But then after Holy Week,

0:30.3

you had at least a little bit of a rest. How's your post-easter recuperation coming?

0:35.1

It was good. I, um, it's in the room right next to where I'm recording this. There's a big

0:38.7

calendar on the wall that has all my, you know, appointments. And I was so grateful we put a big

0:43.0

X through March because March was, as you say, I think it was the toughest month I've ever had.

0:49.4

Washington for over a week at the USCCB, then back to Anaheim for the Religious Ed Congress for

0:55.2

like three days, then right on another plane up to San Francisco for Google, then St. Mary's College,

1:00.1

Maraga, then a talk to all the priests of San Francisco. Then I got home and I had right away two

1:06.3

confirmations, big confirmations followed by Pomsunday immediately followed the next day by our own

1:12.6

chrism mass here in LA, which is an all day affair, then Holy Week right away, right into Holy Week.

1:18.9

So I happened to notice there were five days right after Easter with nothing on my calendar. So I

1:23.6

said to my assistant, okay, okay, I'm declaring a vacation. And I want all of you to stay home because

1:29.3

yeah, I live where I work. I live right here at the, at the office. So I said to my assistant, you

1:34.3

guys just stay home for five days and give me, I don't want to travel anywhere. I've been traveling.

1:38.8

I don't want to get on a plane. I just want to stay here in my house quietly and for five days.

1:43.8

So I did. But then the minute it was over, I had to go up north, I did two big confirmations. And

1:49.6

so I'm back in the saddle again. So what is, what is Bishop Aaron do for five days to rest and
