Well in 2010, about eight years ago, DC Comics decided they needed to reboot Superman and so they were trying to make him appeal to a new generation of comic book readers and so they wanted to make him like a little more

early millennial so they made him like edgy and angsty and confused about his

direction of life and were a hoodie, you know, just edgy Superman and real unsure about his career path.

And so he was investigating all these different careers.

And at one point, Ma Kent came to him and she offered him the advice.

She said, Superman, she said, I don't care what you do.

If you want to be the best banjo player in the world play the banjo all that matters is you're happy

And I remember I read that and thought that is the dumbest advice I can imagine giving to Superman.

He's Superman!

He's got power far beyond those immortal men!

And if he was with all that power just plays the banjo that's a waste

That's a waste for all of us. That would make me so mad to know that dude could fly around solving some stuff and he's

a bram-dram-b-b-dram-doo now let me say if you're a banjo player I'm not knocking on your game

play the banjo with all your heart and soul but part of the problem is making happiness your goal

happiness is a bad goal

happiness is a byproduct of taking your power and leveraging it for a purpose greater than yourself.

And for him to have all that power, we say serve a greater purpose with great power

comes a great responsibility to do something great with your life.

So play the banjo if you want, but man, you've been given so much more power to do good
