Well, I remember the day when I was a little kid, when my dad gave me my first knife,

which I know sounds like a weird sentence to some of you, but I grew up in Texas, so children carrying around knives is like breathing.

It's just the thing you do, you know?

It's a tool.

And so I remember when my dad gave me a knife, he didn't just hand it to me for the first like hour he was like here's your knife and I'm like a

I'm like no no and then so he just showed me how to open it and how to close it he kind of worked the locking mechanism explaining how it worked.

Then he showed me the proper way to hand someone a knife and the proper way to receive one.

And then he showed me how to carve away from yourself with the blade and began to show me all

this different stuff and then finally handed her over to me where I had to mimic those

same motions with his coaching and then he left me to carve little animals out of a bar of soap.

And so after about an hour I was there carving and my brother came home.

And my brother had just walked in the house and just apparently saw that he had gotten a knife too and it was on the kitchen counter and so he somehow bypassed my dad grabbed his ran outside to show off to me that he now had a knife and so he ran outside yelling, I got a knife and then went to open it very

responsibly and the way he did it drove the blade into his hand and he's

commenced bleeding and crying which you've got to if you're going to picture it all that happened very swiftly

So it's kind of like I got a night a

Rhyland ran off and I'm like whoa

And then as he got bandaged up over the next hour or so,

I remember when he sat down next to me,

I suddenly just felt a swell of wisdom.
