Well, I remember the day when I was a little kid that my dad bought me my first knife.

Now I know for many of you that's a confusing sentence but let me clarify.

I was raised in Texas, all right?

And so walking around with a knife

is kind of like walking around in pants.

It's just kind of what you do.

And so I remember when he got me this knife, he took me out in the backyard, and for

about half an hour he didn't let me touch it. I just watched him open and close it, and he was

showing me how the mechanism worked.

And then he showed me the right way to hand the knife to somebody

and the right way to receive it when it's handed to you.

And then he showed me how to whittle and carve with the blade away from you and just teaching me some basics of how to handle this knife.

And then after I watched him for a while, he gave it to me and then he watched me as I practiced trying to carve little animals out of some soap.

And after about an hour or so, my dad had to run and check on something.

I don't know, he left for a moment.

But when he did, my brother came home.

And when my brother came home, he saw that he had also

been purchased a knife.
