tourist tips all day, dressed in a knockoff costume as a Mario or Spider-Man or Cookie Monster,

can get off his feet, kick back, and for a golden hour or two, just be simply Hector.

So the New Star Deli is a place.

The Times Square mascots go to unwind and get real, but can a safe haven for mascots really be safe? Tuesday, 9.30 p.m.,

mascots have gathered at the new star. Enter Luis Martinez. 36, homeless. A man with little

to lose who had beef with a bear strode up jawing to a large table of mascots.

Among them, the gentle poo,

or at least the immigrant who steals his living, portraying him.
