It seems like there's one technical glitch after another haunting the government at the moment, doesn't it?

In addition to the technical glitch that led to more than 16,000 people not being counted as infected by COVID-19,

it now turns out the more than 40,000 people who were due to be contacted yesterday through track and trace couldn't be because a load of phones failed due to another, wait for it, technical glitch

or computer malfunction. Then it emerged that the original glitch came about as a result of

someone using an outdated 13-year-old version of Microsoft XL. That's right, you can't get

married and have a party like it's 2007, but the government

are relying on the control of a virus with something that was new when Tony Blair was handing

over the Prime Minister's office to Gordon Brown.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, Tory conference yesterday was described as a complete shambles

when a Zoom meeting, a seminar with top business leaders who

had paid a lot of money to be part of it, couldn't go ahead because of yet another, you've guessed

it, computer glitch. The question has to be asked here, have we got an analog government

trying to operate in a digital age? Today, Boris Johnson makes his keynote address and it's all

about wind power. Let's just hope nothing

goes wrong with the Prime Minister's wish to turn the UK into the Saudi Arabia of wind.

I can think of another slogan. I'll bring it to you a little bit later on. We'll be asking

Colonel Bob Stewart, MP, whether there will be any rebellions in the House of Parliament this

week because the rule of six is going to come under scrutiny,

as is the 10pm curfew for pubs. Rishi Sunak this morning was talking to Julia Hartley Brewer
