Psalm 18. If you let your emotions run your life they will ruin your life. God gave you emotions and only He can control them. The Lord intends for us to exercise our will - this often means choosing against how you feel. David shows us three things we must choose every day. Will you?

They help us to realize that every good thing begins with God.

The Psalms provide a roadmap for the journey ahead.

Well, before we begin our study today, let me just tell you, I cannot cover all of this Psalm.

So I want to encourage you to read it on your own.

We've come to Psalm 18.

It's 50 verses long.

And it is an amazing song.

There's so many wonderful things in it I would love to speak to you about. For example,

there's an expression in it where David says, thy gentleness hath made me great. I think it's

one of the great expressions of scripture about God's gentleness towards us and the connection

between gentleness and greatness. So there's lots of nuggets like this all through this particular Psalm.

But I want to limit myself to how the Psalm begins.

Because in the opening part of Psalm 18, we learned something about David,
