The second section of Psalms, known as the Exodus Psalms, remind us that the God who redeemed us is still with us.

In fact, he is promised to never leave us or forsake us.

I used to think that at some point in my Christian experience, I was going to get to the place where I could relax,

where I didn't have to fight and work and struggle and deal with certain things.

I really did. I thought I was going to grow to the place where it would be smooth sailing.

Well, I want you to know that they never came and it never will.

Maybe you can identify with this because we all think at some point it's going to get easier.

And yet, sometimes as you grow in the Lord, as you get to the next season of life,

the battle seems to intensify.

Well, you're not the only one.

The Bible says there is no temptation taking you, but such

as his common demand, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that

you're able, but will with the temptation also make a way to escape that you may be able to bear it.

That brings us to our psalm for today. It's Psalm 61. It is the Psalm of David. It is a short Psalm,

eight verses long. A Spurgeon called it a pearl of the Psalms because it is so beautiful.

But it is profound in this sense. Psalm 61 seems to have been written after David has already become

king. So he's not being hunted by Saul,

he's not running through the mountains

for his life as a young man,
