Thanks for tuning in, as I hope you will have noticed. This is not on our normal day because we've done that.

This is an additional one because a lot of you email or tweet and say,

why aren't you carrying on?

We want more and more of our reflections.

Well, thank you for that if you do.

So we've split it.

On Friday, look back at Labor and looked ahead because, of course,

politics never stops. And now we're looking ahead to the Tory conference and having a chance

as well to reflect on the state of the Conservative Party. Miranda and Ian has joined me for the

weekend gathering in the studio.

Tim, no doubt, is reflecting on the Tories and is en route to the Tory conference,

but he's going to leave his reflections as well.

So, well, yeah, let's, Ian, it seems to me that since the election,

you look for a real deep analysis of what went wrong and what that

tells us about what they need to do to put it right, whether you're on the left of politics,

the right of politics, you can make that analysis.

I just see no depth in the debate that has happened so far in this leadership contest.

Before we go into the individuals and conference,

do you see the necessary weight given the slaughter a few months ago?

No, I agree with you, Steve.

Though, weirdly, I think that's more likely to happen when they get a leader.
