Tim is direct back from the Conservative Party Conference. We're both in the studio.

Ian Martin is in the United States, but we'll hopefully be joining us. And Miranda too is away from

the studio, but is joining us in a certain form which you'll hear about shortly. But Tim, I want to

take this opportunity. You've come straight back from Birmingham to be here in our Not Another One studio.

Your overall take, and then I really want to delve deep into what I found a fascinating party conference, but your general take, and then we'll go to some of the specifics.

Well, my general take after all party

conferences steve is just generally exhaustion yeah they are exhausting gatherings and there's a lot of it

of course is self-inflicting what i don't think people always appreciate about party conferences

is they are parties yeah really are parties they are annual get-together, friends.

And I was a bit more, you know, people have noticed I wasn't well over the last couple of weeks

and so I missed a couple of episodes of the podcast and so I actually was quite sensible this year,

but still exhausted by it.

So that's my primary response.

Just total exhaustion.

And what listeners don't know is that I've got two cans of coat lined up here with me

just to try and give me a little bit of a spurt.

But no, I think it was consequential, Steve.

I think Kemi Badenock and Robert Jenrick both did themselves damage with various gaffs,

one on maternity in the case of Kemi Badenock and Robert Jenric with an absurd, extraordinary

statement about the armed forces killing people, British armed forces killing people because

they couldn't imprison them because of the ECH which in a way I I hesitate to say it's disqualifying but it's close to disqualifying in my opinion to say
