Welcome to Jimmy's Jobs of the Future. Today's episode is brought to you in partnership

with the CBI, the CBI are one of the biggest lobby groups in the United Kingdom, representing

almost 200,000 members. This was one of their live events on the future of work. They

assembled great cast list of characters to talk about the future of our economy, including

the likes of Sir Trevor Phillips, the education secretary, Julian Keegan, the shadow sexual

state for the future of work, Angela Reiner and representatives from Microsoft and the

University of Birmingham. I chaired the final panel of the day with BAE Systems. BAE Systems

help governments, their armed forces and security services, defend countries in the air

at sea, on land, in space and the cyber world. In the UK they help build submarines, warships

and some of the world's most advanced military aircraft, including the RAS typhoon fast

jet. They deliver 10 billion to the UK economy annually, employing 35,000 people across

50 sites, spending £170 million a year on training.

And so I left three years ago and like a lot of special advisers over the last few years

I found myself unemployed. I left to start a family and work out what I was going to

do with my career next. Went off to study at Stanford for a bit. And then March 2020 happened

and we all remember March 2020s. My wife went back to work because she worked in the NHS

as a doctor and I became a state home dad to our five-month-old. So I had very much
