Dr. Berg answers the question from someone about reducing dietary fat calories on keto. If you are doing healthy ketosis, intermittent fasting, in fat burning and already keto-adapted, but the metabolism is slow and not losing as much weight as you’d like, if you lower your dietary fat down to about 75g or less, this forces the body to use your own stored fat. The key is to get all the nutrients by eating high-quality 3 to 6 ounces protein and a large quantity of salad. If you plateaued and already at one or two meals a day and you cut back on your fat, don’t worry about the calories, focus on increasing nutrients.

Hey guys, I want to answer this one question that a person had relating to

0:39.2

being on keto, okay, and then once you fully adapt and you're actually in fat burning and you

0:45.2

plateau. In another video, I mentioned you want to lower your dietary fat to force your body

0:51.4

to burn its own fat. Okay, and so the follow-up question that this person had was this.

0:56.9

If I cut back on fat, won't my calories be too low? Okay. So that's the question we're going to

1:01.9

we're going to answer. Take a look at this. You were burning sugar. Now you want a keto. You're doing

1:08.8

intermittent fasting. And now you have been converted to fat.

1:13.4

So you're burning fat, and it's been maybe one to two months, and you've adapted.

1:17.8

So your hunger's down and your cravings are down and everything is smooth.

1:22.6

But let's say your metabolism is a little bit slow and things are sluggish and you're just not,

1:28.6

you're not losing as much as you'd like. So if you start to lower your dietary fat down to about 75 grams, maybe a little bit

1:35.8

less, this forces your own body to use your own stored fat. Now think about it. An average skinny person has about between 80 to 100,000

1:49.6

stored calories of fat on their body. So that's a lot of fat to run off of. So when you're doing keto

1:56.0

and intermittent fasting, you're dropping your carbs and you're forcing your body to burn fat, which is a very good thing. It's a natural thing. But if you're doing intermittent fasting, you're dropping your carbs and you're forcing your body to burn fat, which is a very

2:01.6

good thing. It's a natural thing. But if you're doing intermittent fasting at one meal or two meals

2:07.3

per day and you reduce your fat, what does that leave you with? Three to six ounces of protein

2:14.1

and vegetables. Is this going to be enough? Well, hopefully you're doing larger quantities
