Are you familiar with Betteridge's law of journalism?

It's quite a splendid one.

It's a bit like Godwin's law with regard to the internet,

wherever the argument is, eventually someone will,

or Goodwin's law, I beg you pardon, or Godwin's,

I've only been on air for 24 seconds, and I've already fluffed it all up.

Whatever the argument is, somebody involved in it will accuse the others of being Nazis

at some point in the argument.

He did, the fellow who actually invented Goodwin's law, came up with an exemption when

Donald Trump announced his candidacy or when his true colours began to emerge during his

first tilt at the White House and the inventor

of the law actually said no, in his case, it's all perfectly valid and justified. But generally

speaking, the hyperbole involved in calling your online opponent a Nazi is neatly encapsulated.

Betteridge's law of headlines is arguably even better.
