Summary

Today, politicians across the House of Commons have called for Lord Mandelson to resign as UK ambassador to the US over his connection to Jeffrey Epstein.

Lord Mandelson acknowledged that there could be more "embarrassing" exchanges to come from his correspondence with Epstein who he described as his "best pal" in a letter for his 50th birthday.

He likened his association with Epstein to "an albatross around my neck", adding he felt "profoundly upset that I was taken in" by a "charismatic criminal liar".

Adam and Chris discuss what the revelations mean for the UK and US with Caitríona Perry, Chief Presenter for BBC News in Washington

And presenter of the Security Brief, Mikey Kay talks to Adam about the state of global security after Poland shot down Russian drones that had entered it's air space overnight.

Hello, as discussed a few days ago, we've launched the newscast census where you can tell us

0:10.1

how you listen to the podcast, how you'd like to listen to it in future, what you'd like to hear

0:14.6

more of, what you'd like to hear less of. But we've already had some feedback, which is that

0:18.8

getting the link to the census on BBC sounds is quite hard.

0:22.5

So I've taken action and I've posted a link to it on my Instagram story.

0:28.0

So if you're on Instagram, you can go to R. Adam Fleming, because my first name is Robert.

0:33.0

And then you will find the link to the newscast census there.

0:37.0

And I'll keep racking my brains for other ways of firing that link out there in easier ways for you to click on it.

0:43.6

And we really do want you to click on it because we want to hear how you listen to newscast.

0:48.4

So we can make that listening experience even better.

0:51.7

And if like me you filled in the form and you couldn't think of anything that

0:55.3

would make newscast better, then that's fine too. Anyway, give us your feedback on how this

1:00.0

episode goes. So let's make an episode of Newscast. Newscast from the BBC. Fat boy sliver

Can I have an apology, please? I trust almost nobody. That daddy has to sometimes do strong language. Next time in Moscow. I feel delulu with no salulu. Take me down to Downey Street. Let's go have a tour. Blimey. Hello, it's Adam in the newscast studio. And it is Chris at Westminster. And it's Katrina in the newscast Washington studio.

Which is basically kitted out to look exactly like the newscast studio in London.

1:33.9

So if you're watching this, it looks very, very similar.

1:36.1

But we're actually hundreds and hundreds of miles apart.

1:38.9

So the first thing we're going to talk about on this episode is the growing pressure on the Prime minister to do something about the British ambassador to Washington, who is of course Lord Mandelson, Peter

1:49.2

Mandelson. Now, we already knew that Peter Mandelson had had a friendship with Jeffrey Epstein,

the convicted pedophile, who took his own life while awaiting trial on some other charges.
