And in the US, we note a trend that is moving in the opposite direction, a poll showing

that the majority of Republican voters are in favor of ending all military and economic

support for Ukraine. Is the US about to lose its appetite? Is Europe going to take the lead in providing

support for Ukraine? These are some of the questions we will discuss today. But first, Jack, what is the situation on the ground?

I think at the moment, well, on the ground, there hasn't been a huge amount of movement recently.

So as of when we're recording this, which is Friday the 13th of January, Russia recently,

we think, made advances in Solidar, a town on the outskirts of

Bachmut, which is in Dynetsk, or near Dynetsk. And the Ukrainians and Russians have been

fighting over this town for, oh, it's been months now. It's one of these things where you see

images and you watch videos coming out of Bachmood and it's like

scarcely believable. It's like World War I or something like that or like the Iran-Iraq

war. It's just wave after wave of Russian offensives going basically running at Ukrainian trenches.

They get mowed down. There's another wave that comes. What the point is of Solidar Bakhmut is, it's a bit nebulous,

like the strategic importance doesn't seem to justify the sheer amount of manpower and
