Summary

“There’s more than one right.” This is something that Jason says often during his trainings. It applies to many different types of yoga postures (and many life circumstances, too!).

For today’s episode, we’re talking about how it applies to backbending. Do you really have to keep your feet hip distance apart and parallel to each other? And what’s the risk of playing with different types of alignment?

Hey everyone, I'm Andrea Ferretti and this is episode 240 of Yoga Land.

0:09.8

So, hi Jason. Hi Andrea. I have to tell you something, which is that last week,

0:14.7

it was episode 239 and I said it was 238 so we have two 238s. Do you remember conversations,

0:23.3

a few of them that we've had in the past where I've said, I don't think you need to say what number

0:27.6

it is, doesn't that get complicated and hard? It's not hard if you're not idiot like me.

0:32.7

Well, you're not an idiot. Thank you very much. Anyway, I think it's helpful to people

0:37.4

strangely. People have they have said that it's helpful, smarty pants. It's very dangerous to

0:44.0

listen to people's comments, including yours. Okay, so I want to say one other thing, which is like

0:51.8

at the end of the daily podcast, every time Michael Barbaro says the same thing, he says,

0:58.9

here's what you need to know today. And he says it in that very strange way. Saying to know

1:05.6

today is very hard for him to say and he's actually done podcasts where he has shown the behind

1:11.3

the scenes or played the behind the scenes of his audio producer saying, say it again, Michael

1:16.7

and then he tries, here's what you need to know today. Here's what you need to know today. He cannot

1:21.9

not do it. Gotcha. So I cannot not do my intro with my number and that's the end of the story.

1:30.4

Okay. I was just trying to tell you that it was a funny little thing. Yeah. You got it. Okay,

1:35.9

so today we are going to talk about the thing that I believe people most

1:44.8

regularly want to talk about yoga, which is backbends. Do you think that's what they most want

1:51.7

to talk about frequently? I think culture has changed. Arm balance. Arm balance. Yeah, hands like

1:57.1

inversions. I think those have been kind of king slash queen of the castle in terms of

2:04.8

postural equity, you know, but backbends are interesting. And there's a couple things that I really

2:13.6

want to talk about specifically with regards to backbends today. Of course. And some of these things

2:21.1

that I want to talk about are a result of all these conversations that I had during the Q&A
