All right, so this week's marketing 101, Neil's going to kick this one off. Hook us, Neil. Give us a hook.

0:06.0

Sure, so the first hook I have for you, and I'm pulling up my screen. Is why Wikipedia always ranks at the top of Google?

0:18.0

Yes, thank you very much. I was trying to find out the tab.

0:21.0

Why do we always see Wikipedia Rankin at the top of Google? And you know a lot of people assume it's backlinks, but when I compare Twitter with Wikipedia, it's not things like domain authority or anything like that because Twitter generates roughly

0:34.4

676 million organic visitors versus 2.1 billion for Wikipedia, but Twitter has a higher domain authority

0:41.9

than Wikipedia.

0:44.0

And when you think about it, we all know that you don't have

0:48.6

to have a lot of content to get traffic,

0:50.5

you have to go up to the right keywords.

0:52.4

But creating content just in and of itself,

0:55.7

Twitter has a lot of content that's been created on a daily basis, it's not enough. What it really is is

1:01.2

Twitter is continually pushing out new content. Wikipedia is pushing

1:06.9

out new content but most are new content is updating their old content. Even Forbes

1:11.7

they're spending more time updating their old content. Even Forbes, they're spending more time updating their old content. So when we looked at a

1:16.1

chart and the chart ended up breaking down top performing websites and what they're doing, as you can see,

1:23.5

they spend more time, 68.9% of the time updating their,

1:28.5

they spent 68.9% of the time updating their content versus 31.1% of time.

1:34.8

And when I say top performing organic ranking sites,

1:38.8

these are sites that have grown their traffic,

1:40.8

SEO traffic by at least 50% a year consistently over the four years so

1:46.1

50% another 50% another 50% another 50% so it's compounding on top of that

1:52.2

these sites had a minimum traffic level of at least 10,000 visitors
