This episode is all about community, it's all about trust, and I was honestly stuck

about how to begin it until I remembered, honestly, one of my favorite novels,

Cormac McCarthy's The Road.

There's a passage in this novel that is, I think, poignant and one that applies in so

many of life's circumstances, especially business.

You may not ever think to look there, but it's there, and it is arresting.

If you know the story, and I won't be giving away much, the father and son traversing

this deserted wasteland of a post-apocalyptic world can't really trust anyone.

In fact, the father, while encouraging his son and telling him that there are,

in fact, good people out there in the world, is incredibly defensive and has to always

stay on his guard, because it turns out most people that they meet aren't good.

In fact, most people that they meet are wishing them ill.

And so there's a scene in which the boy finally challenges his father.

He says, there are other good guys.

You said so.

And the father responds, yes.

And the son responds, so where are they?

They're hiding.

Who are they hiding from?

From each other.

And if that doesn't hit you right between the eyes, I don't know what will,
