Hey it's Antrice and welcome to another episode of the savvy painter

podcast in this episode I want to talk about creativity and the way that we

0:09.5

think about it. This is something I've been talking a lot about with my students in Grow Studio and it's been really top of my mind because I think there's a lot of elements of it that we completely overlook.

And I want to start with creativity by recognizing that everything that we create

0:27.4

starts as an idea in our mind. It starts as a thought that we have. So we might see the way the light is hitting an

0:35.1

object and think, wow, that's really beautiful, I want to paint that, or we may look

0:39.3

at a scene and really just love the nostalgia, but it always starts with a thought.

We can see the color of an object and decide that that is just such an amazing reflection and we want to create that. We can look at another

1:26.3

what we're thinking about.

1:28.0

And so for the past couple of weeks, this topic has been discussed over and over again in Growth Studio and I wanted to talk about it here on the podcast because I think it's super, super important.

As artists, I think we know that we see things a little bit differently than other people.

1:45.6

Sometimes we will see a scene or an image that to us is really breathtaking or has an enormous amount of beauty, while other people might just pass it right by.

1:56.9

So here's an example of that.

When I lived in Los Angeles, I used to go to the Los Angeles River to paint and some of the first paintings that I

2:05.5

sold after I quit Disney were from this LA River series. I would get up really

2:09.8

early in the morning and I would go out there and paint because I loved the way that the

haze looked over the city and how it sort of accentuated the atmospheric

2:19.7

perspective and I especially loved how life continued to flourish in the L.A. River. So if you're not from
