Summary

Today's episode is a little different from my usual format. I'm going to start by sharing why inner child work matters so much, why so many people struggle to change patterns even after years of insight and therapy, and what actually needs to shift at the subconscious level for real transformation to happen.

And then after that, I'm going to play a recording from a live Q&A and alumni panel that I hosted about my program, Rewired.

In this conversation you'll hear people who have actually gone through the work talk about their experience β€” what changed for them, what surprised them, and what the process of repatterning subconscious safety strategies really looks like in real life.

Hi, everybody. So I want to start this podcast by asking you, have you ever had the experience

0:09.0

of understanding exactly why you react the way you do or track things in the life that you do or

0:16.0

basically can really understand yourself from a psychological standpoint, but yet you're still

0:23.7

reacting the same way, you're still attracting the same things, and you're still repeating

0:28.2

the same patterns. You know where the pattern comes from. You've talked about it. You've journaled

0:33.8

about it. You've hired therapists and coaches about it. But when a moment comes,

0:39.8

the same trigger, the same relationship dynamic, the money decision, the wanting to put

0:44.8

yourself out there in the world, especially in your career, but you just can't seem to do it.

0:49.4

It's like something automatic takes over and it's not because you're failing and it's not because you haven't done

0:55.0

enough work and it's not because anything's wrong with you. It's because the younger part of you

1:00.1

is running the show and the adult version of you isn't. And it's the younger part of you who is

1:08.0

just trying to stay safe, just trying to not get hurt, not be judged,

1:12.6

not be rejected, not be abandoned. And this is all happening very, very subconsciously.

1:19.0

And a lot of the work out there in personal development is geared towards mindset work,

1:25.4

is geared towards setting goals. And quite frankly, a lot of it is geared

1:30.2

towards overriding the needs of the inner child and seeing all aspects of the inner child,

1:36.6

which include the inner critic and the people pleaser. These are all protective parts,

1:40.5

even the saboteur. These are all protective parts that are there to protect the

1:44.9

inner child that are really there to help you. And so much personal development work is designed

1:49.3

at getting rid of these things. And that is just not the way to come at it from my point

1:55.2

of view. So let me tell you what inner child work actually means and what I walk you through and hold your hand through

2:03.5

in the course rewired, which I'm starting another live cohort for this Tuesday, March 12th.
