Summary

Have you ever wondered if God’s gone quiet… or if you’ve just stopped listening? In this episode, I talk about what it really means to hear the voice of God — and why sometimes His voice sounds faint, distant, or even distorted. I share how I realized that distractions, idols, and divided attention can block what God is trying to say, and what it looks like to give Him your full focus again. This one’s all about clearing the noise so you can finally hear God clearly. Want to actually hear God when you read His Word? I put together a free guide that shows you how to turn your Bible reading into a real conversation with Him — not just a routine. Sometimes it seems as if God's quiet because there's a lot of things he has to get through to get to us.

0:05.7

We have all of these things in the way within our life, all of these guys, all of these idols and or distractions that we've placed that he has to get his message through just to get to us.

0:17.4

He has to work through all of these different things just to try and get our intention. So by the time it gets to us, it's faint, it's quiet. We can barely hear it or it's

0:26.5

completely different from what he actually said because we have so many things in the way. And it's not just about going

0:33.7

straight to the messenger, but making sure that the messenger has a direct line of access to us

welcome to the disciples journal i'm your host darren starks and we're back again this episode i

0:45.7

really want to get into hearing the voice of god i think that we've all had a similar struggle

0:50.6

or can relate to the fact that sometimes we don't know if the thoughts that we have are

0:56.0

ours are gods. And it's a learning process of trying to distinguish between the two and really

1:01.8

discern those. And so whenever I was thinking about this, the first thing that came to my mind actually

1:07.0

was a game that we're all familiar with. And it's called telephone. So for those who may not know, telephone is a game that we're all familiar with and it's called telephone. So for those who may

1:13.1

not know, telephone is a game where you get a group of people together and they stand in a line

1:17.9

or they're sitting down and they stand in a line side by side. And someone else who's outside or

1:23.3

not a part of the group will be the messenger of some sorts. So they'll say a phrase or a sentence

1:29.0

and they'll say it to someone at the end of the line. And then that person will repeat what they

1:34.7

heard to the next person. Then that person will repeat what they heard to the next person,

1:38.7

so on and so forth until they get to the end of the line. And typically the objective is that the message that the first

1:45.4

person received, the last person also repeats as well. So the same message, you know, across the

1:51.4

board. The first one, the original is spoken at the end. But for whatever reason, if you've played

1:58.1

or not, I have never had the message actually get to the last person.

2:03.5

Like, it's always corrupted. It's always something completely different. I don't know if because

2:07.5

people are intentionally trying to be difficult, mess it up, but it literally just never seems
