Dr. Alberto Villoldo is a medical anthropologist, psychologist, and shamanic teacher who has spent decades studying the healing practices of the Amazon and Andean shamans. He founded The Four Winds Society to bring ancient energy medicine into dialogue with modern neuroscience. His work bridges worlds—science and spirit, biology and ceremony—to help people remember who they truly are.

0:00.0	Initially, people were coming to help themselves or to learn how to help others.
0:05.2	And now people are coming to us because they begin to remember what they were born to do,
0:11.5	what they came here to do, because we chose to incarnate in the earth at a time of species
0:18.6	extinction, climate change, you know, huge transformation, the rise of AI.
0:24.5	This is, we selected, we wanted to be part of a new dream for the planet.
0:29.5	And the minute we begin to remember that, when we were all gathered in a green field, a grassy field and a big angel come out and said,
0:36.8	hey, the planet needs you.
0:38.4	It's in trouble.
0:39.5	Who wants to go?
0:40.6	And we volunteered.
1:01.6	50. 50 years ago, shamanic states were considered forms of psychosis,
1:06.4	and studying them from a scientific or medical perspective was deemed career suicide.
1:09.9	Now, a lot has changed between now and then.
1:13.4	50 years seems like a long time to us, you know. But it's actually an eye blink when you realize just how old many of these practices are.
1:19.3	We're talking tens of millennia.
1:21.4	So in this episode, I get to ask my teacher and one of my all-time heroes, Dr. Alberto Vialdo, about his impressions of what has changed and what hasn't over the course of his career.
